Hi Selwyn,
In case you don’t see this I will email you direct also, early this week. I think the best i can reccomend is that you contact the RICD(Royal Institute For Child Development) (http://www.ricd.go.th/) close to Mae Rim. This is an excellent facility with expert Doctors , social workers and all the access and knowledge of the sort of help you are looking for.
The staff their are very helpful and I have no doubt that they would help you secure the help you need, both financial if applicable and physical if you within their region.
I’m unsure where you are living in Thailand, but even if you are not in this area I am sure phone contact may still get you results in getting some help.
Their motto is “no child left behind” and from what I see they try to stick by that.

Hi John
My name is Selwyn Wilson a soon to 66 year old UK pensioner. I have been the only carer of 10 year old Arissa Sompamit from Omkoi since she was struck down with JEV in September 2009. She is brain damaged and has all that accompanies this Disease.I met 2 Thai ladies at the Mc Kean rehab centre where I have taken her for Occupational Therapy until March. Its expensive but may be worth it.

I need help with this child. The Government of Thailand have denied her any payments towards her disability until December last that was 500 baht. They said when when we made the application 2 years ago she was not long enough out of hospital to guarentee she would be long term diabled.

Mother cannot work because of the child and grandmother is in her late seventies and disabled herself and thats the family. I did not have much option but to help this former pupil of mine. Is there any way we can get some financial help from anyone? Perhaps you can advise. Knowledge and education are not the family strengths and I have difficulty in Thai communication.

Thanks firstly to Mum, sorry not been able to hook up on Skype for a while, as you can see its all busy busy busy, be assured that we are all just as keen to see you back here, the kids keep asking me “when?”

Also big thanks for the kind words from Kate and Bill. You have a great daughter, she and Tom have been fantastic so keen to help out with everything. In fact its hard to get Anna to take a break, the minute one jobs done she wants to know what needs doing next…top Volunteers

It is wonderful to see our daughter Anna and her boyfriend Tom making a difference in the lives of these delightful children.Helping them with meaningful activities and building the childrens confidence.As Anna’s grandma was a musician it was lovely to see Anna give a music lesson to a girl who was pleased with her efforts.Anna’s grandma would have been very proud as are we her parents and of Tom as well. What a terrific foundation.Encouraging the children to have a good work ethic but having lots of fun at the same time! Well done to all.
