Another hard day for the Art Relief International Volunteers with no let up in the high temperatures.
The Monkey bar frame is up;the “Castle” mortared and the tunnel hill has grown some more.
It’ll be interesting tomorrow with school now closed for the “summer holiday” and all the kids at home.

Fair play to all the Art Relief International Volunteers for fighting through this blistering heat and pushing things forward with the playground.

Posts are now in for the planned “monkey bars” and much bamboo treated for the hanging poles.

Looking forward to seeing all the guys back on Monday.

The guys and girls from Art Relief International were back again today for another days hard slog in the sweltering heat.

Bpaa Muay, cooked up some refreshing Rosella tea to help combat the dehydration.

First results always take a while but things are definitely taking shape with the castle walls almost done and a very “telly tubby” looking hill with tunnel. I keep expecting to see Tinky Winky popping out of the tunnel at any moment.

Excellent work everyone, you can be sure your efforts will be very much appreciated by all the children here.

Our good friend Ally is at the moment preparing to do a promotional video for the Foundation. The hope is to highlight our work, motivation and hopes in a short film that may lead to increasing much needed sponsorship.

The current playground project being undertaken by our friends at Art Relief International offered a great chance to try out her skills.

Here you can see the work in progress and a little explaination of the plans for the finished project, oh and me in the background fretting about foundations to ensure durability, a problem that was soon solved.

Hats off, or should it be hats on!, to the volunteers from Art International for more hard work in the ever increasing heat of the new season.

House Mother, Muay, did her best to help by supplying refreshing Thai Iced tea.

We expect the crew back on Thursday after a well earned day off.

Exciting stuff going on today with the guys from Art Relief International arriving this morning to start work on the playground.

Arriving shortly after 9.30 it wasn’t long before the many volunteers were getting stuck in.

First operations have been digging out for laying foundations for a block built “Castle” in the far corner and the construction of a tunnel.

With cold season well and truely over its hard hot work and I can only say many thanks to all who are pitching in.

On Friday Art Relief International Volunteers returned for more Dance Class with the kids. This time the class was boosted in numbers by some schoolmates from Mae Salaab School.

As usual there was a lot of fun had by all. Its great seeing the kids get stuck into these activities and truely loving it.

Growing in confidence the children are starting to come up with their own routines that are a pleasure to watch.

Another great improvement to the facilities at Stratton House draws closer as Kira and Wan from Art Relief International arrived today for consultation and ordering of materials for the building of the children’s playground, which starts next week.

First job was to offload a large pile of car tyres they had brought with them.

Taking the short drive, ten minutes up the road towards Banthi, we visited the local building materials supply business of which we have been a long term customer.

With lots of good advice and good prices Kira and Wan went ahead and ordered various materials such as sand and cement, concrete pipe sections, blocks and tools, which will all be delivered tomorrow ready for the build start on Monday next.

Last Friday saw the second Dance workshop with the Art Relief guys and girls. We also had Cultural Canvas here doing a little ground clearnce and more planning for the playground area which should be under construction very soon.
Big thanks to all the volunteers who came along, hope you enjoyed it as much as the kids did.
See you again next week.
