Had a lovely moment at the beginning of the day yesterday,(Monday 5th), as I was about to start explaining an idea for a new project, when all the children surprised me with Fathers Day cards.

A little moment that made me glow,

thanks kids,  all your beautiful cards mean a lot to me.

Thanks to the help of Tais teacher, we were able to sort out the I.D requirement for the three Mattayom level children this Saturday. After a small hiccup in the morning with some missing paperwork we returned to the Amphur office in Sarapee mid afternoon and with Khruu  Bleechaa  help secured I.D cards for Thai , Bong and May. The whole process took around an hour and the only fee was 10 baht for each card.

Thanks once again to Khruu Bleecha for his help and to the friendly staff at the Amphur office to. These I.D cards are now valid for 8 years.

Its been another busy week with getting the little ones back to school. Thankfully we had a great helping hand from our latest volunteer, Tanja, a lovely lady from Austria.

Tanja arrived on Monday armed with memory card games, flash cards and jigsaw puzzle.

Yet another perfect fit here at Stratton House with her very relaxed attitude Tanja rapidly settled in and was very popular with the children.

During her week here she spent much time with the children playing card games as well as badminton. She helped out with Jack a lot giving him some valuable 1-1 attention.

It is just a shame that here time here was so short as Tanja came with the sort of enthusiasm that we need and a good appreciation of the “family” atmosphere.

Volunteers here rapidly learn that we don’t go much for set routine activities in the holidays. The idea is to come with your own ideas for anything to keep the kids occupied in  fun and hopefully constructive ways.

With her easy going character Tanja did this very well.

Hope your onward travels go well and that you will stay in touch.

DSCF5120 (Custom)Thursday saw me having my first lessons, from my friend Ally, in how to operate the online shop that she has been setting up for us. I would ask you to bear with me as it often takes my brain a while to become acclimatised to these technological advances.
Hopefully it won’t take too long as Ally has managed to find a very user friendly software package.
So, no hard and fast promises but I hope that we may be able to officially ‘open’ the shop at the beginning of Xmas week.
Too late for those Xmas cards I know, but hopefully we’ll have a decent range of interesting products that can help us boost our funds.
As well as the childrens handmade art and craft products, greetings cards, postcards, etc , we will also be stocking other items such as wood carvings, Thai silks and the like in the hope of optimising the shops potential for fund raising.
Any ideas for popular items to have in the shop will be very welcome.
