In keeping with our policy of doing our best to follow local culture we visited the Wat on Saturday and I gave all of the children a small amount of money to donate, along with a larger donation from myself.

Kneeling before the Monk we offered up the silver tray with all the donations and stayed on our knees to receive the Monks blessing.

On Sunday the full ceremony was held, with the Wat so full that many had to sit outside as many Monks blessed all present.

After the blessings there was food for all, so Wasana got a welcome break from cooking lunch as the kids and myself ate at the Temple.

Luckily I love the local Thai food and filled up with spicy lab, (raw minced and pounded pork mixed with herbs and spices), …mmmm aloi mak mak.

The kids ate more out of respect, as much of the food was a little too spicy for them to enjoy properly.

The locals were all very attentive to the children and also quite amused at the way I tucked into the local quisine.

We left the Wat at around midday ready for our regular Sunday Bai Tio.

For more photos please visit our photobucket album here.

What a great tool the internet can be. and what a wonderful thing search engines are. Yesterday we received a lovely email from a lady in the USA who had mistakenly followed a contact link to us(at our Foundation website) after searching for her friend John.
The lady Jennifer, made a generous donation to The Stratton ABC Foundation in the process and although a refund was offered she wouldn’t hear of it, and I’m glad to report that she is now in contact with the correct John.
Jennifer is clearly a caring lady who looks to donate something to children in need every christmas time in honor of her late father Ted Lavery.
All here at Stratton House would like to thank Jennifer for her generosity and kind thoughts and shall make merit at our local Temple tomorrow morning in honor of her Father.

It was a mildly difficult desicion whether to go ahead with the shower/toilet block, considering this first home is a rental property.

But the way we saw it, we are not sure how long we will be here; how long it will take to raise the funds for the purpose built place; and the better hygeine standards we can maintain will, hopefully, mean better health and less medical expenses.

Determined to keep good standards from the off, the desicion was made and this shower/toilet block is being constructed thanks to donations from Founder members of the Foundation.

The builders will return on Monday to carry on the job to completion next week.

For all the photos from this construction please visit our photobucket album here.
