Kitchen/Dining Area Ready

As promised we managed to complete the paint job on the kitchen this morning. This has meant that completion of Heathers fence has been delayed but as we will have children here on November first we had to prioritise. Back to the fence next week;).
All that needs to be done now is the final lay out of tables, etc, and our coulourful dining room is ready.
Seemingly showing his approval , we had a visitor just after finishing. Biggest butterfly, (or is it a moth?), I’ve ever seen.
So please, if you are reading this, now is when we really need your support as we begin the job of giving disadvantaged children in Chiang Mai a better chance in life.

Transport and Kitchen Coming Together.

We are happy to announce that we have now acquired a Mazda Diesel Pick-up Truck that will be fitted out to carry passengers in the back at the end of this month.

It was too good a deal to miss and the hope is that we can recoup the money by offering advertising on the sides of the vehicle.

The last couple of days has seen more hard work preparing the kitchen/dining area which is coming together nicely.

Boon has been putting his plumbing skills to good use,plumbing in the kitchen sinks.
For my part, as well as yet more barrowing, i have been hard at it with paint brushes and rollers and hope to have the paint work all done by Thursday this week.
Other good news is that Wassana, our lady chef from our Brick Road Cafe days has confirmed that she will take the position of live-in house mother.

Making A Home

First of all I’d like to apologise for the lack of recent updates. This is due to the fact that it appears that all the phone numbers for our village have been taken and we have to stay on a waiting list for internet and phone. So it looks like regular visits to the internet shop for a while.

We have been pretty busy over the last couple of weeks.

What with moving out of our old house and moving in to Stratton House.

The grounds at Stratton House are ever closer to being finished.

This has been alot of hard physical work for Boon and myself, but well worth it.

Now the inside of the house is coming along to. The lounge is pretty much sorted, with my office area at the far end.

We have also laid out the area for the children to do their homework or art and crafts.

We also installed a cold water dispenser.

Earlier this week the beds arrived, as did tables and chairs for the dining area.

In this delivery were the lockers we picked out so that each child will have somewhere to put any important personal stuff.

So the inside of the house is very nearly ready, just pillows and bedsets to sort out.

The kitchen/dining area still needs some work, but not so much.

Next job is to go carefully through all the requirements for the Childrens Home licence which include health and safety stuff such as fire extinguishers, assembly points, etc.

We look forward to the arrival of Heather, our friend and supporter from Australia, who is coming for a visit next week.
