In between all the art activity lately we have also started preparations for our next big outdoor project. Without giving too much away, the project will first involve construction, (as in building), using a variety of methods but will also have an artistic theme with possible sculpting and definite mural painting at the end of it.

This will be an ongoing project over the next 2 to 3 months so keep looking in to find out more details.

This last weekends work sessions have been a bit of light relief for the kids after recent hard work at the Foundation land.

Sunday morning saw more effort to progress the A B C Mural, instigated by our recent Volunteer Emilie.

Some great effort and lots of fun.

This mornings “work” session for the children was not to forget their promise to our recent volunteer Emilie. She had started a pictorial AB C using animals as our latest Mural painting efforts.

They all had a lot of fun bringing this project along.

Tai, who had been otherwise occupied at the time Emilie instigated this project, chose to work on his own idea having sketched out “The Angry Birds” on 2 walls earlier this week.

Its been a good week for the children’s Villa and Sport Project with the borders to the veg plots being finished and some of the children getting some light relief from the hard work adding new mural work to the walls at the rear of our property.

There has been good planning this week and everyone has done a great job.

Sunday morning and breakfast done the kids got down to work helping load the last of the rubble we had gathered from our grounds.

This job was done by all except Tai who was busy strimming the rapidly growing weeds around the back of the house.

After work it was chill out time

The girls played with the plastercine.

Zak made himself a mask and Gu and Bong were mural painting in the kitchen.

Tai was at the strimmer for quite a while but spent time on his guitar later, when he wasn’t studying.

Please look out for the links on the right hand side of the page, where you will be able to directly sponsor more work towards the permanent facility we hope to build.

The first stage is to get this track done. As mentioned yesterday, if you are local and have rubble you can donate please get in touch. On top of the rubble we will be laying track grade clay/ stone mix. Click on the top photo link   on the right side of the page, where you can directly sponsor a truck load of this material to help us with this project.

The children are doing their bit…will you help to?

The latest Mural idea from Beca has really taken off with the children here and most of Saturday saw lots of activity with the paint and brushes in the kitchen.

And whats that Jor is doing? Very important job, coffee for Daddy:)

Tai has yet to take part as he has much study this weekend.

Despite the weather outside the sun was shining inside as I joined in with the children as they  eagerly worked at this latest work of Art at Stratton House.

Once again these children have moved me with their growing confidence and skills.

Nuff said, enjoy the pics:)

Sadly it was Becas last day with us today but she has certainly left her mark with a fantastic idea for part of our kitchen walls.

The kitchen is a block built “shed” that is no rendered, and Beca suggested that we use each block like a separate ”canvas” for yet more Art.

A great idea that fits very well with the expanding Mural themes here at Stratton House. And so was born, The Beca Gallery.

The Mattayom students were home again today, so Gu and Bong were the first to try out their efforts. They worked with pencil sketching today, ready for using paint tomorrow.

The younger children were very keen to have a go as well when they got home from school.

Especially keen was Zak, who did a great sketch of our truck that was parked next to the kitchen at the time.

In the middle of the week  it was Birthday time again. This time it was our grade A student, Tai who was celebrating.
First present came through the post from my Mother, an Oasis CD. From the Foundation he received a new watch, (Sorry Mum the one you gave for Xmas bit the dust) and a Guitar lesson book with VCDs.
As it happened it was also a day off  school for the Mattayom students and Tai spent some of his day starting his self portrait Mural.

Committed student that he is he also still found time for more study at home.

After a light dinner in the early evening, it was Cake and Kanom time again. This time round we chose Icecream cake. Having not long come out of the freezer Tai had quite a job cutting it, but got there in the end.

Tai, I hope your 14th year sees continued success in your school studies and more self discovery of the many talents you possess.

For the most part all the children seem very happy during these last few days of their “summer” holiday. All playing very well together and pitching in when there is work to do, with no complaint.

It seems that the artistic talent evident in many of our children is also in the genes of our 2 new boys.

Over the last couple of days little Zak has been starting work on his own mural. First drawing out his design on paper and then moving on to lay out chalk outlines on his wall. His brother Tai was asked to resist the temptation to help too much so we could see exactly what Zak was capable of. Tai  gave some direction but all the actual art work was Zaks as far as I know. Can’t wait to see the finished paint job.

If anyone has spare odds and ends of outdoor emulsion that they have no use for please consider dropping by:)

Nothing sad, just more progress. Yesterday Jack painted over his first mural with a new base coat ready to try again now that his concentration and other skills seem to have improved with the recent help from RICD.

To help towards the eventual decoration of all our walls Zak also base coated his allotted wall, assisted by his brother ,Tai.

It was a bit of a soggy day yesterday morning so there was no other “work” going on.

Lots of sewing, playing with the various toys available and drawing, and our now daily English language practice.

When things brightened slightly, in the afternoon there was lots of bike riding and use of the playground.

Another pleasant day.
