We Need You To Help Us Help Our Children

Firstly I would like to say how happy I’ve been with recent rapid responses to our appeals for items to fulfil the small dreams of some of our children.

These gestures have been a real boost to the children for their efforts and real proof that there are people who care.

Now we need to make a far more urgent appeal.

If you have heard of our work, visited our website or maybe even visited our Children’s Home project and are at all impressed with what we are doing, we desperately need funds coming in to ensure that we can carry on into the future and fulfil the promise of “A Better Chance”, to the children here at Stratton House now and many more in the future.

With big efforts here to bring in better efficiency in all areas of our operations, our basic running costs have now been reduced to 30,000 baht a month.

Clearly, to improve, develop and increase our services to help more children we will need more, but our main priority now is to ensure that the first target of basic monthly running costs is covered.

Take a look in our online shop; here you will find gift items produced here at Stratton House; sponsor a child options; and in our Wishlist section options for sponsoring specific needs, such as a weeks food or a weeks drinking water.

If you live in Chiang Mai keep a look out for our collection boxes, now in several locations around the city.

You can find Handmade cards produced by the children in Nok ‘Em Ded store in Prapaklao Rd, close to Wat Chedi Luang.

Recycle Initiative

Also now we would like to start a recycle iniative where your rubbish can help us. If you would like to recycle more but struggle to find a way to get rid of your unwanted plastic/glass/card or paper please get in touch.

We already recycle most of our waste and if you give us details of where you are then we will collect; all monies from the recycle centers will go directly into The Stratton ABC Foundation general Household budget. (please note that this option is open only to those living within Chiang Mai City area or between the City and Sarapee areas…..if you are not sure get in touch anyway and we will let you know if we can offer the service).

If you have any spare time and have any ideas for fund raising please get in touch.

Please help The Stratton ABC Foundation continue to build on its good start and go on to help many more disadvantaged Thai children have, not only A Better Chance, but quality of life as well.

Where The Grass is Greener.

As part of our ongoing improvements we spent some time last weekend and in the afternoons this week preparing ground and laying lawn for more comfortable play and relaxation areas for the children and adults alike.
The small patch you see now cost around 1800 baht in total, with 200 bahts worth of turf given free by the friendly supplier at Kamtieng Garden Market.
We would like to extend this area and add more around the grounds.

Chess, Making Dens and More Homework

Another week goes by and life goes on with the children making use of their free time, playing chess and making dens in the garden.

We have a good group here who play well together most of the time.

Chess is still very popular and we might have to think about more boards and maybe even an in house chess competition.

The younger ones tend to play in the garden, making temporary dens.

This is one of the reasons for the “lawn” in our wishlist.

We don’t like to discourage such imaginative play but we need to cut down on the cuts and bruises that occur with the present rough surface in the garden.

These days Tai is mostly to be found working at the computer, with quite an extrodinary amount of homework to be done.

This week the Lamyai have benefitted from the heavy rains and grown significantly, so that the children get to benefit to by eating these delicious fruit everyday.

Calling For Your Help

Seven and a bit months since we officially opened and nearly a year since started this project has seen much funding by the Directors. We have a few regular supporters and a couple of child sponsors, who add a little to the coffers.

Whilst still in the process of registration it is difficult to go out and find the bigger sponsors that we need to ensure that our work goes on here.

We would like to ask all that know and trust us and anyone who finds this site and likes what we are doing, to find it in their hearts to look at the ways they could help.

Please take some time to browse the online shop. We hope to extend the range of goods available, with all profit going into the Foundation Funds.

Please consider joining the ‘Because You Care Club’ and let us send special greetings to your loved ones on their Birthdays. Or perhaps you would like to become a sponsor for one of our children and get personalised updates on their progress, exchange letters , gifts etc.
